Individual coaching support directly following a traumatic event – short intervention of 6 sessions

In May 2024 I suffered a traumatic event whereby I was assaulted at work by those who were meant to protect me. I did not know how to cope and I did not know how to deal with a lot of emotions. I was in effect lost. This event took place at a particularly stressful time in life as I had just changed my role from being employed to being self employed, I was moving house and my life to another country and my partner was expecting a baby. To say that I had a lot on my plate is the understatement of the century. I was extremely fortunate as my union reached out to me and put me in contact with Rebecca to help me deal with the issues that were on my brain. We had a series of sessions, 6 in total, which enabled me to get through the proceeding months. She listened. She empathised. She understood. Rebecca gave me a series of coping tactics that I will take with me throughout my life. The most important and useful tactic that she imparted upon me was the importance of micro moments. To focus on the small things that give you joy and to cherish them. She allowed to me/ gave me the space to exude and explore all my emotions, and she did not judge. As I write this testimonial I remember, in particular, our 2nd session whereby she pointed out that discrimination and racism was a part and parcel of what I had suffered. She saw that I wasn’t coping and she suggested that we “shake off” the emotion. This practical solution was part of Rebecca’s skills.
Rebecca was extremely easy to talk to and she was always available. Even when our sessions came to an end, she was and is there. When I had to return to the place where my assault to place, she was there. I contacted her and she made herself available. I will forever speak extremely highly about Rebecca as she is truly a wonderful person. We all need help sometimes in our lives and I can’t think of anyone more helpful than Rebecca.
Trauma Informed Communication Training Session for Staff-Student Engagement

My overriding comment is that the training was fabulous, a real eye opener for some and a real reminder of the importance of self care to the rest of us….I think the biggest impact was the ability to spot trauma in ways that we might not otherwise have thought of. This was certainly something I discussed with my team after the session and everyone (independently) said the same thing. Since the training, I have definitely adopted some of the training principles into my calls with students….This approach has certainly taken a lot of my calls in a different (more positive) direction.
Trauma Informed Practice Training Session (co-delivered with Camilla Wells)

Camilla and Rebecca are obviously expert in their subject and communicate the science and concepts in a clear and interesting way. But what sets them apart is their extensive legal experience. They know, at first hand, the difficulties that vicarious trauma can pose to barristers, both personally and in their practice. This allows them to connect directly with, and gain the trust of, the barristers at their sessions so that they feel able to engage in the training in a full and open way. As a consequence, their training was very well received in chambers and we plan to work further with them in the future.
Talk on Navigating Self-Care and Vicarious Trauma (co-delivered with Camilla Wells)

Camilla and Rebecca were absolutely fantastic. Their familiarity with the unique chambers environment meant they could make their content entirely relatable, capturing the imagination of our audience who are exposed to vicarious trauma on almost a daily basis. We received excellent feedback on the session and it was real food for thought.
Individual somatic coaching client – long term work with complex trauma

The experience was incredibly kind, supportive, healing and deeply nourishing. As a result of our sessions together, I’ve noticed I have a much larger capacity to be with difficult emotions and experience life with less panic and anxiety. I have some very deep wounds that eased, allowing me to better understand myself and what’s needed moving forward. You created a space where it was safe for me to express what felt right or not right in moments, allowing me to feel autonomy in sessions. There was a foundation of care and mutual respect, and the positive regard you held for me as a client was almost palpable.
