Support for professionals

Wellbeing and psychological safety is increasingly acknowledged as an essential part of conducting legal proceedings and investigations in an ethical and professional manner. In the criminal sphere, there is guidance in place for interviewing teams to follow when dealing with sensitive subject matters. In the civil sphere, whilst the lack of official guidance is concerning, we see regulators focussing more on psychological safety and non-financial misconduct in the workplace.

As a professional conducting adversarial proceedings, you may feel under-resourced to be able to identify, safeguard against and respond appropriately to, the wellbeing and health concerns that often arise.

Furthermore, the relational fallout, pressure and distressing nature of conducting disputes, including navigating interactions with the individuals involved, can be stressful and overwhelming for even the most seasoned professionals.

  • Are you in need of some support in bearing the burden of professional involvement?
  • Is it affecting you personally or triggering areas of your personal life?
  • Are you struggling to know how best to interact with certain individuals?
  • Could there be a whisper of discomfort inside you that you want to explore?
  • Do you know you are under-equipped to understand the complexities of human behaviour that are presenting themselves?

Please contact me to discuss your particular concerns or needs. Examples of the type of coaching and consultancy support I provide include:

  • guidance regarding trauma-informed approaches to evidence-giving, achieving best evidence and the framing of questions;
  • guidance around physiological signs of distress and how to respond appropriately and safely;
  • de-briefing for interviewing/investigating teams navigating sensitive subject matters and/or vulnerable individuals;
  • coaching/ad-hoc support for individuals and teams experiencing  (or at risk of experiencing) stress and overwhelm in the context of handling disputes; and
  • workplace/team education around psychological safety and wellbeing in disputes.
